Terms of service
Version 2026-10-06
Terms for using the Limetree Legal website and SaaS dashboard.
Scope
These terms apply to the public Limetree Legal website and, unless a separate agreement applies, to access to the Limetree Legal SaaS dashboard.
If a customer agreement, order form, data processing agreement, or other written agreement exists between Limetree Legal and a customer, that agreement takes precedence for the relevant services.
Service
Limetree Legal provides software for trademark research, filing preparation, portfolio management, monitoring, and related legal operations workflows.
The service is intended to organize information, support analysis, and help teams coordinate trademark work. It is not a substitute for professional judgment, official register review, or qualified legal advice.
Accounts and organizations
Dashboard access may require a valid account, organization membership, or invitation. Users must provide accurate account information and keep login credentials confidential.
Organization administrators are responsible for managing access rights, inviting appropriate users, and removing access when it is no longer required.
Customer content
Users are responsible for the files, trademarks, notes, portfolio records, monitoring settings, and other content they upload or enter into the service.
By using the service, users grant Limetree Legal the rights necessary to host, process, display, transmit, and back up that content solely for providing and securing the service.
Results and legal review
Search results, generated text, classifications, monitoring signals, and other outputs may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate and must be reviewed before business or legal decisions are made.
Users remain responsible for assessing registrability, conflicts, deadlines, filing strategy, and communication with trademark offices or third parties.
Availability and changes
We aim to operate the service reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, security work, third-party outages, or technical issues may affect access.
We may improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue features where this is necessary for security, compliance, product development, or operational reasons.
Fees and paid services
Paid plans, usage limits, support levels, and billing terms are governed by the applicable order, plan description, or customer agreement.
Unless otherwise agreed, fees are due as stated in the applicable commercial terms and do not include taxes, duties, or third-party official fees.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend access where necessary to protect the service, comply with law, prevent misuse, or address unpaid fees or material breaches.
After termination, access to the dashboard may end and customer content may be deleted after a reasonable retention period unless legal or contractual obligations require longer retention.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
Where legally permitted, the courts with jurisdiction for Hamburg, Germany, are responsible for disputes relating to these terms.
Confidentiality, professional secrecy and data processing
Limetree Legal undertakes to keep non-public customer content and client matter information confidential and to obtain knowledge only as necessary to perform the contract. This obligation survives termination. Before access to professional secrets, personnel and further persons engaged to perform the service are bound to confidentiality in text form and informed of the criminal consequences of unauthorized disclosure under section 203 of the German Criminal Code. Further persons may be engaged as provided in the DPA, and Limetree Legal must pass down these obligations.
Before using customer content, each organization enters into a Data Processing Agreement including professional secrecy terms and its annexes. A duly authorized representative expressly accepts for that organization. The complete record, including incorporated annexes, contracting parties, accepting person, time and version, is available as an immutable copy. Acceptance for one organization does not cover other organizations. Following changes, the displayed current version requires separate acceptance; previous agreement records remain available.
The relevant DPA terms take precedence over these general terms for processing on behalf of the customer and protection of professional secrets. Mandatory statutory duties remain unaffected.
